University of the Arts London, formerly known as the London Institute is the largest provider of education in arts, performing arts, communications, fashion and design. It is a University combination of six internationally recognized colleges in London, presently located in the Davies Street. The six colleges were founded in the mid 1800s to early 1900s and five merged together in 1986 to form the London Institute. In 2003, it received the approval for University status and in 2004 it was named as the University of the Arts London. The sixth college joined in 2006.

In 2004 the Quality Assurance Agency awarded above 20 out of 24 for five of the colleges. In 2008 the Research Assessment Exercise placed the University of the Arts London as the 1st out of the 71 Universities that submitted research papers on art and design. This is the most popular UK University among international students in the field of creative art. Hence, there is a highly diverse student population covering over 120 countries.

This university has 11 resident halls with 1,750 rooms, but due to great demand accommodation is not guaranteed. However, the university is equipped with all other facilities for a productive and enriching study life.

The University houses historical and contemporary collections of art of Stanley Kubrick, Tom Eckersley, Thorold Dickinson, John Schlesinger Library and staff and students. It holds exhibitions in two spaces on-site. The Student Union organizes variety of clubs, events and activities and also publishes a showcase magazine of student work; Less Common More Sense.
