About University of East London
As the name suggests, the University of East London (UEL) is mainly based in Stratford and Docklands in the East of London. It was founded in 1970 as the North East London Polytechnic and was merged with two higher education colleges; West Ham Technical Institute in Stratford, and the South East Essex Technical College in Barking. Consequently, the merged trio was named University of East London. UEL received the University status in 1992.
In addition to the main two campuses in Stratford and Dockland, UEL also conducts some programs in Barking Learning Centre in Barking and Dagenham. Their locations are quite attractive, with the Dockland campus being situated in the waterfront of the Royal Albert Dock overlooking the runway of the London City Airport and the Stratford campus located on the close proximity of the 2012 Olympic Park.
The UEL, one of the top 10 post-1992 Universities, offer many degree programs through its Schools in the University. There are 8 Schools which offer degree programs and other courses, while the other three takes a more administrative perspective. UEL also offers online and distant learning courses. They also offer Single Honours and Combined Honours for Bachelors' degrees, a wide variety of postgraduate degrees, taught Masters Degrees and both taught and research based PhDs.
UEL provides on campus residence for its students. All study bedrooms are provided with en-suite facilities and furniture. UEL also provides information on finding outside accommodation.
The UEL Student Union organizes various interesting activities to balance the study stress with a dose of fun!
