About London Metropolitan University
The London Metropolitan University, located in London is the largest “single†University in London and was formed on 1 August 2002 by the amalgamation of University of Guidehall and the University of North London. It has a current student body of approximately 34,000 students, and has campuses spread out across London. With a variety of courses amounting to upto 485 the University has something for everyone. It is particularly popular with overseas students who comprises up to 10,000 of its student body, and come from over 100 nations across the world, and hence has been ranked the third most popular british University for international students. This is particularly due to its recruitment strategy, which is a result of offices and consultations in many upwardly mobile countries.
Its academic departments include, Department of Applied Social Sciences, Department of Architecture and Spatial Design, The Sir John Cass Department of Art, Media and Design, London Metropolitan Business School, Department of Law, Governance and International Relations amongst others. The London Metropolitan chose not to appear in privately organised league tables because the university believes that the UK Government should be the formal assessor of universities thus no data on its rankings are currently available.
The University operates its own archives, libraries and museum with a thorough collection on womens literature and other notable disciplines. It also has an active student union called the “London Metropolitan University Students' Union†("MetSUâ€).
The union manages two highly popular social facilities, one being “The Rocket†complex renowned for its famous club night is and Sub Bar which was refurbished after years of neglect in the 1990s, and now hosts a myriad of events from club nights, to trivia nights to Dj nights.
