The Petrie Museum of Egyptian Archaeology is situated at Malet Place, University College London (UCL), London. The museum demonstrates the life in the Nile Valley from the prehistoric times and is claimed to be one of the most leading holders of the Egyptian
artifacts!!!
The Petrie Museum of Egyptian Archaeology, holds about 80,000 objects ranging from the prehistoric times, Roman, Ptolemaic and Coptic periods to the Islamic period. Some famous items are one piece of the earliest linen from Egypt, a fragment from the first ever calendar, first iron beads with working, oldest papyrus paper wills, oldest dresses, shoes, colourful tiles, paintings, frescoes etc. These collections, mainly due to well documented excavations, give the visitor a unique insight to the Nile Valley lifestyle. Researchers are welcome, however with prior appointment due to space restrictions.
The museum is open from 13.00-17.00 from Tuesday-Saturday. However, on the 25th of May it would be closed. Prior informing could ensure a better and comfortable visit if visiting with groups or persons with disabilities. Entrance is free of charge. Photography is allowed without the flash.
All collections are housed in the UCL at Grower Street in the heart of London.
