About Tate Modern
The Tate Modern in London is the National Museum of International Modern Art in Britain. It belongs to the Tate group which has galleries around the UK. The Tate Modern is to be found at the former Bankside Power Station (Adjacent to the River Thames) which was opened in the year 2000. Entrance to the Gallery is free however a 3 pound contribution is appreciated. Visiting Exhibits levy an entrance fee that will depend on each collection of work on display.
This is a gallery whose contents are much debated. Love it or hate it it's definitely worthy of a visit. Its vast space alone although slightly intimidating allows the visitor to enjoy modern work leisurely. Eye-catching and thought provoking installations by some ingenious modern artist are a plenty at the gallery. The collection of art is superb. Even for those who are not fans of modern art the gallery is a must see – at least to see what the fuss is about!
This is a very family friendly place to visit. The Special Family Trails programs which allows for children and parents to interactively explore the gallery with the aid of interactive voice guides and colorful kiddies packs is a special attraction.
The Gallery spans four flours and has quite a few decent restaurants though some on the pricey side. When in London this is a must visit site which is held sacred amongst Londoners.
