About Tate Britain

This is a wonderful art gallery that is situated on Millbank in London. It is a part of the Tate Gallery group in the UK. Long considered Britain's most prestigious gallery the Tate Britain was first opened in 1897. Huge columns which create palatial magnificence along with beautiful stone sculptures that enhance the gallery make this one of Britain most compelling galleries. The Gallery houses displays of historical and contemporary British art and is the first in the Tate Group.

The work on display ranges from the year 1500 to the present. The Art work includes Pre – Raphaelite period to Cubism.  The most wonderful part of the Tate Britain's Collection is its amazing collection of J. W. W. Turners work. The Permanent collection at the gallery  is displayed in the main display area. This includes works by Tracey Emin, John Latham Douglas Gordon, Sam Taylor- Wood. Marcus Gheeraerts II,Giacometti, Picasso, Moore, Hepworth and Warhol.

What is unique to this gallery is the brilliant way in which the art work is hung. You could immerse yourself in one piece of work at eye level and not be distracted by any other work  .

After seeing all the wonderful works do drop by the Tate Gallery Shop for some of the best art books and postcards in London. The coffee shop is also an excellent stop for cakes and pastries while the Tate Gallery Restaurant is a wonderful place for lunch.

So don't miss out on this grand gallery when in London . It's a definite must see!
