About Orlean House Gallery
Orlean House Gallery is a riverside mansion, a historical art jewel in itself, which draws about 56,000 visitors annually. It is an 18th century mansion surrounding a woodlands garden. A peaceful stroll along the riverside leads to this beautiful site.
The baroque Octagon room of this mansion was built by a world famous architect named James Gibbs. The Orlean House Gallery hosts five temporary exhibitions annually. They range from both historical arts to contemporary art. With the Orlean House's rich and pulsating history, a gallery being placed in such a venue creates an aura that drags you into the world of imagination and brings about calmness in you. It sure is a treat that you deserve!
Admission to this gallery is free of charge. During April to September, it is opened on Tuesday to Saturday from 1.00pm to 5.30pm and Sunday and Bank Holidays from 2.00pm to 5.30pm. In October to March, it is opened on Tuesday to Saturday 1.00pm to 4.30pm and Sunday and Bank Holidays 2 to 4.30pm. The garden is open from 9.00am to dusk.
Location
To get to the Orlean House Gallery, you can take a train to St
Margaret's Station. You could also take a train to the Richmond Station
and from there take any of the buses 33, 490, H22, R68, R70 and 290 to
The Crown Pub/Lebanon Park. Then walking along the Riverside road will
bring you the magnificent 18th century house that houses the Orlean
House Gallery and its art!
