For nearly a thousand years, ever since the coronation of William the Conqueror in 1066,  Kings and Queens have sat on the coronation chair amidst settings of age old tradition and majesty beneath the high altar of the Westminster Abbey, waiting to be crowned as rulers of the British nation. The tomb of the Unknown warrior has become a place o pilgrimage in the recent times.

The Westminster Abbey is open to visitors from Monday to Saturday. On Sundays and religious holidays the Abbey is open for worship only. There are various kinds of tours available for visitors to Westminster Abbey, designed to help you to see as much as possible and get the most out of your visit. Situated in the heart of London – next to Big Ben and the house of parliament, two major railway stations, two London Underground stations and regular red London buses will take you close to the Abbey doors.
