The Central Criminal Court, also known as the Old Bailey dates back to the 12th century and is the court building in London. It comprises of 18 court rooms placed across three floors, where many of the interesting yet famous cases were heard. The Old Bailey is located on the site of the Newgate on a road called “Old Bailey” which trails the wall of the City of London, between the St Paul's Cathedral and Holborn. This is why, the Central Criminal Court is commonly known as the “Old Bailey'.    

The opening times of the Old Bailey are from 10.00 am to 1.00 pm and 2.00 pm to 5.00 pm, from Monday to Friday.

Admission to the Bailey is free, but only for persons above 14 years of age. The only public access allowed is through the public galleries, where you could also witness court cases being held live. Further, for security purposes no cameras, electrical equipment, phones, large bags, food or drink are allowed in the building. Although there are places that keep your belongings until you return by charging a small fee as £2, it is advisable to travel light when visiting the Old Bailey.  

St. Pauls and Blackfriars are the closest tube stations to the Old Bailey, but you could also get there by the London Tour buses, that take the tourists to the London attractions.
