About Southgate Cricket Club
Based on the spectacular Walker Ground in the North London suburb of Southgate, Southgate Cricket Club has been in existence for well over 150 years and till today the club remains as one of the best grounds for club cricket in South England. Southgate was initially founded by the Walker brothers in 1855. The club's home ground was renamed in their honour in 1907 as the Walker Cricket Ground and is maintained by the Walker Trust at present.
Southgate Cricket Club has won the Middelsex County Cricket league in 1976 and in 1977, the national club cricket competition. Presently, the club and its venue participate actively in cricket matches like the Middelsex CCC, Middelsex County Cricket League and T20 matches and one- dayer's are played occasionally at the ground. In 2011, the club's team won the championships of the Middlesex County League division two, which means Southgate will feature in premier division cricket against the top clubs in the county. Southgate also promotes junior cricket enthusiastically where the club offers coaching lessons for boys and girls under the age 11.
