Middlesex County Cricket Club is one of the eighteen most important county cricket clubs that make up the English as well as Welsh domestic cricket structure. Being previously known as the Middlesex Crusader, their name was changed to Middlesex Panthers in early 2009. The club play most of their home matches at Lord's Cricket Grounds, the most prestigious cricket stadium in the world, also popularly renowned as the Home of Cricket. The first noteworthy mention of cricket in Middlesex dates back to 1680 and the earliest match played in Middlesex involved teams from London and Croydon.

Lord's, being the home of the Middlesex County Cricket Club, is known to be the spiritual headquarters of cricket, and its owner, the MCC (Marylebone Cricket Club) is the guardian of the Laws and Spirit of Cricket who play a major role in promoting cricket worldwide. Middlesex have been one of the most successful English County Clubs having won 12 County Championships, four FP Trophies, the Benson & Hedges Cup on two occasions and emerging winners of the National League in 1992 and the Division Two in 2004.
